A center for ulternative creative practice in kolkata.
Studio Next Art Foundation (SNAF) is a government-registered NGO which is an artist-run platform that aims to bridge culture, art, and community and foster an open exchange of ideas and create new dialogues for re-conceptualizing the theory and practice of art-making as an ongoing process to exchange, empower and support artists across many forms of expression and geographies. Through an amalgam of ventures and artistic explorations, our community-centered initiatives aim to build intercultural bridges, remix categories, and facilitate regional, national, and international visual dialogue as a part of education/capacity building under the platform Studio Next / Art Next. We encourage connection, conversation, and collaboration to create a positive understanding of cultural, social, environmental, and economic issues by hosting curated exhibitions, discussions, workshops, campaigns, publications, film screenings, artistic educational activities, and artist residencies. We strive to live our core values of inclusivity, diversity, and community engagement in the works we develop, the artist we champion, and the opportunities we create.
INSPIRATION + UNIFICATION_Studio Next aspires to be a platform for critical, unconventional, and challenging art practices by connecting with our changing communities by taking an intersectional approach, identifying and removing systemic barriers, and supporting artists and art practices that contribute to reinforcing social cohesion and creation of bridges and links among people and communities through intercultural dialogue. We would try to support the development of new talents, engage with local cultural communities, artisans, and marginalized communities, and facilitate the diversity of cultural expressions.
ENGAGEMENT + EXCHANGES _Studio Next’s open, unconventional, multi-disciplinary approach to programming allows for new constructive ideas, perspectives, and forms in art and culture to emerge and cross-pollinate, through discourses and debates around parallels in contemporary practice.
ACCESS_We are aware of systemic barriers within society and the art world and strive to implement equitable models that provide true access and interaction of diverse cultures/communities and the possibility of generating shared cultural expression through dialogue and mutual respect.
