Bihar Lalit Kala Akademi, headquartered in Patna, is a registered institution under the Societies Registration Act 21 of 1860, with registration number 570/2014-15. It operates throughout the state of Bihar.

The Akademi’s primary objective is to foster and advance the study and research of various visual arts, including painting, sculpture, printing, folk art, photography, and art criticism. It actively promotes the organization of art exhibitions for artists both within and beyond the state, providing platforms for artistic expression and recognition.

Additionally, the Akademi is dedicated to identifying and revitalizing extinct or lesser-known genres of visual arts indigenous to Bihar, raising awareness of the state’s rich cultural heritage. It supports and encourages folk, traditional, and tribal arts and crafts, acknowledging their significance in preserving cultural identity.

Operating within the framework of rules established by the Akademi with State Government approval, its activities include organizing cultural programs at state, interstate, national, and international levels. These initiatives, conducted under the aegis of the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth, aim to facilitate cultural exchange and enrich the artistic landscape.

Through active participation in governmental schemes, the Akademi under the aegis of the Department of Art, Culture, and Youth to empower artists and enhance cultural programs at district, state, national, and international levels.
